We are able to know that we are deeply loved by God. We are witnesses to his love through the works of Jesus Christ, and we are called to receive and give that love. We had a windy and warm day for our lake service as we started 1 John 2 this week. We thank Otoniel Rodriguez for coming to the park and helping us with musical worship, and all of the campground who joined us for Sunday's worship service. As we look at the scripture this week, we see this metaphor of God being light expanded, and the invitation extended to follow Jesus, allowing him to be our advocate to the Father. When we do this, it allows the truth to shine on areas of our li ves that keep us from a closeness to God, from community with one another, and ultimately from joy...and it allows God to work in those areas and reconcile us into a right relationship with him and those around us. John is emphasizing the need for the believer to walk in the light of God, even when it exposes our sin. We love better when we don't have things to hide, and we can walk in a fuller joy with God when we are honest with ourselves. To follow along with the main text of scripture this week,...

How do you describe the eternal God in the flesh, Jesus? How do you explain to people the things you've seen, heard, touched when it's so important? We see John taking up that task in the introduction to 1 John 1 in this week's message. He was a witness. He loved Jesus. He was loved by Jesus. Confidence is not a bad thing, but it matters what we're confident in. When we over-inflate ourselves, at the expense of how we treat others, and at the expense of how we trust God, the results can be toxic.  We're looking at a few sections of scripture this week. Our main text is going to be from Luke 18 . We'll also be referencing Luke 14 and 15 , though.  We're looking at being back in person soon, and we're in the process of finalizing those plans. It's a common thing to make resolutions, especially around our faith, going into the new year. It's normal. We're not leaving a normal year, though, and the next year is picking up where the last one left off. So what's this mean for how we meet with God? What does this mean for our thoughts about him and what he thinks about us? We look at Psalm 42 this week, where the author (probably David) is away from his house of worship and giving his heart a reminder about the faithfulness of God and to trust in God for redemption of his circumstances. This week we look from three different viewpoints towards Jesus and how he fulfills the promises of God throughout the generations, ultimately showing us how we can trust in his promises for us, as well. The Mom: Luke 1:46 -55 : Commonly known as Mary’s song. See how Mary recognizes how great God is, the reality of her lowly estate, and the joy in seeing God working through her. She ties her situation into the promises made to her nations ancestors. The Friend: John 1:1-5 : We see one of Jesus’ contemporaries connecting Jesus to creation and recognizing him as God. John also connects Jesus as being the source of life and light. The Pastor: Hebrews 1:1-4 : The author of Hebrews also ties Jesus into the prophets, as well as recognizing the finished work that he came to accomplish. The season of Advent is a season of anticipating an arrival. For the prophet Jeremiah, it was a season of warning God's people of God's holiness (and their need to repent) and reminding God's people of a coming savior. We're also in a season of Advent right now. We eagerly anticipate a returning Jesus as we celebrate this season. Here's three things to notice as we look at today's scripture in this season: 1. God speaks to his people. 2. God warns his people because he loves his people. 3, God blesses and restores his people because he loves his people. Jesus is the proof of God's love for us.  This week we're in Acts 26, seeing Paul give his testimony (again) while on trial (again). Watch how he ties the history of his people and their belief in a Messiah to the arrival of a Messiah and the impact and change on his life.  Paul uses this reality to extend an invitation to the king and anyone listening. The reality is the good news of the gospel is the offer on the table for anyone. Jesus came so that everyone could know God as father and receive eternal life.  To follow along, click here .  This week, we take a look at Acts 23 ( click here to follow along ). We see Paul continue to be a problematic hot potato for the religious and political leadership in the region by preaching a hope in a resurrection through Jesus Christ.  Here's a few things to remember: 1) God is always with us. 2) Courage is actually found in surrender to Jesus. 3) The church is to mirror the qualities found in Jesus.  This week, we look at Acts 20. It was a breezy Sunday, and our last Sunday outdoors. We will be moving indoors for our services beginning October 4th. Our services will be at 10:30am every Sunday. We will be posting a version of our sermon on this site prior to Sunday morning, and including it on this site. For this week's message, we look at how Paul's life reflects the love and service of Jesus as he's leaving a church he planted and cared for. We see the work, the tears, and the cost that Paul has poured into this community of faith.  When we understand that it's Jesus working through Paul and that Paul's response is to surrender to Christ and be an imitator of Christ, we see this beautiful dynamic that's also available to us through the Holy Spirit.  This week's message was recorded in Benson.  This week, we take a look at Acts 17, where Paul makes stops in Thessalonica, Berea and Athens. We see Paul reason with people at each stop, utilizing scripture to show Jesus was who he claimed he was.  When Paul stopped in Athens, he entered into a very religious culture. They even had an altar to an unknown god, which Paul seizes as an opportunity to differentiate a living God from the idols in their city.  We're back after a week off from posting. Adam Savage was our guest speaker last week, and he spoke about how God put a burden and a hope in his heart for loving people in Egypt. This week, we take a look at Acts 14. Paul and Barnabas are travelling and preaching the gospel of Jesus, and meeting persecution. This week, we take a look at the first missionary trip that Paul took. Notice how Paul relays a brief overview of the history of God's people in the synagogue, and how God opens the message up to the Gentiles.  Sadly, also take note how the religious leadership try to hinder the Gentiles from hearing the message of hope. This week, Pastor Jeff was preaching in Benson at First Baptist Church, and Jason Haug was filling the pulpit in Blomkest. Both were preaching out of Acts chapter seven. This message is the final message from our Luke series. We see a risen Jesus blessing his friends with the peace of God, and commissioning them to go and share the message he taught: Go preach about repentance and forgiveness. The reason we chose to go through Luke can be found in the introduction to the book of Luke : Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word . We're into our third week where we can't gather together at our physical church site, so we've had to find other ways to study God's word, communicate and gather together.
